Healing Requires Ruthless Honesty

All we have is our faith in the midst of unknown existence, we call life. understanding the significance of our insignificance is the ultimate awareness, as the continuum of flow of life does not stop for anyone or anything. Our ordinary ego wants constant attention, and according to Caroline Myss, “we have to beat the life out of our ego so that we can move towards the multidimensional being that we are and align with the evolution.”

The reason people stay stuck is because they expect change to come from outside, rather than from within and yet, absolutely nothing outside of us needs to change in order to change. We need to keep reminding ourselves that no one is interested in our reality and no one cares. The only problem is us, not what goes around the world. From the perspective of mystical principals, we are part of a greater reality and consciousness beyond the finite, physical world and we will pay the price for our games, our illusion will become our functioning.

To live a remarkable life, we must take action in spite of our illusion. We must embark on a journey of becoming conscious, abandon pain, regret, resentment, and go beyond the comforts of our distractions. Awaken the inner spirit. Dare to be bold. Dare to seek the truth. Dare to be brutally honest with the self.

Trust The Journey

“Nothing binds us except our thoughts, nothing limits us except our fears, nothing controls us except our beliefs.”

Imagine if only we gave ourselves the permission to let go and dared to try something scary just enough to shift our perspective; imagine the possibilities and the wonder we could find if we break out of our comfort zones. Maybe we’re meant to do the things that scare us to find faith and greatness in ourselves but can we really trust our journey? and why do some things take a long time to understand?

Looking back at younger me, I see a very different person from the one I choose to be today. My spiritual journey started more than a decade ago as I found myself seeking for the meaning of life however, the process of walking the spiritual path took a lifetime, like a bamboo tree. Bamboo is a metaphor for personal growth, a mystical plant as a symbol of strength, acceptance, tenacity, endurance, and wisdom. It takes around four years in developing its roots and preparing to hold a 90-foot tree that would withstand the elements. I hear you say, not all require such endurance to find meaning and purpose in life and I agree, however, is patience still a virtue?

Our capacity for being patient has crumbled by the speed at which life now moves especially with instant information at the click of a button and waiting has become uncivilized in this era of hyper-speed. The spiritual teachings of great mystics identify patience as the first and last lesson and a companion of wisdom along with compassion. It forces us to be in the present moment and in resonance with absolute truth as patience is the basis for all spiritual realisation, moves us from the limited physical realm into the realm of surrender and trust. With practice, patience enables us to accept that things will not always go our way and helps us cultivate the positive emotions and empathy which allows us to trust the journey, live from the heart and let go.

How do you cultivate patience?

Hellen Keller is known around the world as a symbol of courage and hope in the face of overwhelming adversity. After the age of 19 months, she was afflicted with an illness that left her blind and death. As a result, she was referred to a twenty-year-old graduate from the Perkins Institution for the Blind in Boston, Anne Sullivan who remained with Keller until her death in 1936.

Anne’s success with Hellen remains an extraordinary and remarkable story as a miracle worker and their closeness allowed Hellen to thrive and become the most powerful and influential blind-death woman in US history with unwavering determination, astounding intelligence, unbelievable courage and insurmountable achievement. She dedicated her entire life helping people see the potential in their own lives. Despite her circumstances, Hellen taught us that life is a daring adventure and the only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.

I will leave you with one of her quotes that shaped my perspective on my path as a seeker; “What you are looking for is not out there.. It’s in you.” Happy International Women’s Day in honour of Hellen and Anne, as their story kindle a light in the darkness and fills our hearts with inspiration.

Love and Gratitude.
